Of Books and Dogs

Books, books, books. I can't help it - I can't resist buying books, books, books. I also have a Kindle, but much prefer holding a Real Book.  Some of these books are kept forever and some are donated.

Last week I vowed: No more books until I finish reading the ones stacked beside the bed.

Today I bought:

So much for vows.

Have I also mentioned this book (link below): S.O.A.R.,  animal rescue stories by Jack Floyd?  S.O.A.R. stands for Southport-Oak Island Animal Rescue, and Jack is a long-time volunteer there.  I'm partial to it because I know the author, but you might want to check it out. [It's an ebook; the link below is for iTunes, but you can also get it elsewhere.]

S.O.A.R. Stories by Jack Floyd

What is your latest book purchase?

  1. Raych and I saw "Why We Broke Up" at BEA and it looked GOOD! But I think both of us forgot to pick up a copy in the frenzy of things (HELLO JIMMY FALLON).

Also, I think the last book I bought was "Yertle the Turtle" because WHO DOESN'T LOVE THAT BOOK? And also it was for Rachel's fetus. So.

I still don't own "Unfinished Angel" and I have no idea why. I think that will be my next book purchase.

  2. My latest book purchase is Inheritance, by Christopher Paolini. Unless you count the free ones I've downloaded for my iPad.

  3. New Discovery on the workings of a writer's brain at Pen and Ink. I want to read the books you mentioned, but right now my mind is full of new grandchild and I am very short on sleep. It's quite a change to go from a deathwatch in Hawaii to a new life in Michigan.
    Thanks for the book suggestions.

  4. My boss recently gave me a gift card for Barnes and Noble, so it wasn't long before I was in the bookstore carrying around books and trying to decide which ones to buy and which to put back on the shelf. The Chronicles of Harris Burdick-with the newly penned stories to accompany the pictures- is now mine!

  5. Oh Sharon...why am I so shocked that you would have such an interest in buying books! I can just see that stack next to your bed. I did not have to buy any lately, as I am working on the Sharon Creech books next to my computer in the library. The last two I finished were sent out to Daniela and she was thrilled!

  11. I just checked "Why We Broke Up" out from the library! Some of my coworkers were raving about "The Fault in Our Stars", but I have a large pile of books at home that have to be tackled first. It's also nice to hear that you prefer real books over ebooks. I like the idea of e-books, but I don't think they'll make me as happy as a pile of REAl books.

  14. Anything by Ngaio Marsh. I've got about half her books, and it's lovely to find one I haven't got. A New Zealander, but very English.
